Newborn Sessions
You have a new addition!
That is exciting! I bet you're a little tired (or maybe you're not), and there's a whole new routine for you and your family. It's a really special, thrilling, and wonderful time.
I remember when I did my daughter's newborn photos. We drove to a friend's house for pictures and Lucy had an explosive blowout. On her new football outfit. Whoops!
We made it work, and all babies are cute, so it was an easy fix. But it was a learning lesson for me. I want to make this really easy on new moms. I come to you. You have your onesies, your diapers, and your changing table.
So how does this work?
First, let's talk about some logistics:
Who: Parents, siblings, and even pets if you're comfortable with including them and it's a part of your vision.
Where: Your house. No travel, you have access to your diapers and wipes and all the things that baby needs.
When: mid-morning. starting between about 9 or 10 AM, is the best times to shoot and usually babies are a little happier in the morning.
Ideally, let's get you scheduled before your due date! You can do an inquiry here and we can work out a date. I may have availability after baby is born, but it's always best to plan ahead and get on my calendar, especially if you need weekend availability to accommodate siblings and/or other parents.
FAQ
What should we wear?
I suggest neutrals or earth tones. They show up well on camera, they are usually not very distracting. I also prefer solids over busy prints, but I also am there to photograph you in your natural habitat, and I want to snap an accurate portrayal of you and your family. Please don't stress over your wardrobe if it's not in your nature to do that typically. For babies, neutral onesie or PJs and access to some clean diapers for diaper shots.
Do I have to clean my house?
Ma'am you just had a baby, please do not. I need a good surface, one good window that gets morning light, and a neutral/white comforter or sheet. Master beds are amazing for this, so just make sure your end tables don't have clutter, but if you just stuff that clutter in a drawer, no one will ever know.
How old should baby be?
This is up to you. I think 2-3 weeks is a really special sweet spot, but 1 week-3 months (or even a little older) works for me. Not every circumstance is the same, and sometimes things happen we don't plan for. I'm just here to get those sweet, snuggly photos with your kiddo.
What's the process?
I will show up and meet your family, siblings, and pets, and then walk the house and find the best light and location. After that, it's baby-led. Alert pictures and sleepy pictures, pictures of feedings, I'm here to get it all, but on baby's time. Most shoots last 1-2 hours, but I'm not watching the clock if you aren't.
Then what?
I will deliver a gallery of at least 40 total high res images digitally to you within 3 weeks of your shoot. I do both color and black and white rendering for your use.
